With the help of Architect Bruce Lanier and Tiny House Nation, the Parsons were able to build a new 576-square-foot beach cottage on their old property. The elevated home features large windows that allow natural light to flow through an open space with high ceilings. Space-saving elements—like a shower tucked beneath a staircase and sliding doors that convert into a dining room table—keep the space functional. Pye says the storm taught her to focus on what really matters; she now is careful to consider an item's function before bringing it into her home.
